We started GDC for a reason. Here it is.

Greetings from GDC. Dear designers, creatives, and everyone who’s been following along: welcome, officially, to our world. You probably know GDC from Instagram. Some of you we’ve already met through video calls and a lot of DMs. For others, this is where we start getting to know each other.

Honestly, the story started very simply, in a way most creatives will recognize. We were always searching for inspiration around the world, trying to spot what would be big next and be the first to know what was happening in the industry. Over time, all that digging turned into a personal archive. Eventually, it felt right to open it up to everyone, and that’s how GDC was born.

As the years passed, the community grew far bigger than we ever expected. That’s when it became clear that GDC shouldn’t be squeezed into a platform that only shows the work. After all, every piece we found came from an artist with a deep philosophy behind it, and so many sleepless nights went into shaping their style. Those artists deserved a real conversation. Instagram just wasn’t the right place for it.

And just like that, our website came to be.

But protecting our independence always mattered, and independence meant very limited resources. So everything went into it. One of us became the eye, the other became the mouth, and between us there was, let’s say, one mind. The searching, the writing, the code, the design and everything else to make it happen, all of it was done by hand. Doing it alone was never the plan, though, so the community got involved through open calls for pitches and submissions. Because, like the Aerosmith song, we didn’t want to miss a thing.

Now, after months of working behind the scenes, the time has come. There are so many people we can’t wait to introduce, from China to New Zealand, the USA to France. Every conversation pointed the same way: this is onto something. The community needs a space to learn from each other. After all, the C in GDC has always stood for Collective, and that’s the feeling GDC is here to bring back.

In the upcoming days, you’re going to find our conversations with those inspirational people and studios, our insights and takes on the industry, and some close looks at recent projects that caught our radar.

Well, this is us. Now, if you want to become a part of our world, don’t forget to put the website in your bookmarks, always share inspirational projects with us, and you should definitely check our guidelines to see how you can write for us. We cannot wait to meet you all!
